Overall Analysis
In order to find the perfect processor, we compare the price, the energy costs and the performance. A processor can only gain full points here if it is the best in all three disciplines. Each discipline makes up 33% of the final score.

Currently, both the Core 2 Duo E 6700 and the E6300 using the L2 stepping are the processors to beat in our gaming benchmark. AMD's energy efficient Athlon 64 X2 3800+ EE is neck and neck with the Core 2 group. While the Core 2 Extreme X6800 is the fastest gaming processor, it falls behind because of its high price.

In DivX, AMD's low-priced EE processor is able to keep up very well and takes third place. Meanwhile, the two Core 2 Duo E6300 processors take the first two spots.

Here, AMD's processors are outpaced by the Core 2 processors.

Since AMD's Athlon 64 X2 3800+ EE is inexpensive, very frugal, and WinRAR is highly optimized for the Athlon 64 core, this CPU takes the top spot in this test with all factors in its favour
