Power-Saving Motherboards: Fact Or Fiction?
Asus P5Q-E: EPU Power-Saving
BIOS Version: 1306
The P5Q-E behaves very much like the P5Q Deluxe, despite the fact that it contains eight instead of 16 voltage-regulator phases and other less elaborate components than the higher-end model. The P5Q-E has a heat pipe, but it doesn’t connect the southbridge to the northbridge and the voltage regulators as it does in the P5Q Deluxe. It also lacks two USB 2.0 ports present on the other motherboard. The layout and the components, however, are identical.
Naturally, this is a more value-oriented offering from ASUS, which sells for just under $150 online.
