The spatial uniformity of the 1970GX was a little less than what it ought to be. While the spread between the brightest and the darkest points we measured was average for the current crop of LCD monitors, the lower part of the panel was clearly darker than the upper. Add to that the mirror effect when the image is dark and you get a picture that's not all that pleasant to watch, especially when screening movies.

So from the static point of view, the NEC 1970GX is decent, but no more. The fidelity is there, but the panel is too bright for day-to-day use and the uniformity isn't good enough.
Reactivity To Spare
The NEC 1970GX uses a Samsung 8 ms LCD panel, and so obviously it's fast. Its performance in terms of latency was excellent.

The results were as good as our L90D+, and barely slower than the fastest 17" monitors using this technology. The maximum latency we clocked was 27 ms.
