ATI Graphics Card Buyer's Guide 2006, Part II

Sapphire Radeon X1300 Pro

This short card is a single-slot solution; its heatsink covers both the GPU and the top-mounted memory modules, while the rear memory modules are not cooled. This generation of card supports Pixel Shader 3 and HDR rendering with simultaneous anti-aliasing. Although GPU and memory run about 30 percent faster than on a standard Radeon X1300, this is still far too slow for current and complex 3D games.

Sapphire's Radeon X1300 Pro comes with a digital DVI connector, an analog VGA interface and an S-Video jack.

Sapphire's bundle is commendable. Despite the card's low price, it comes with all of the necessary cables and adapters for Video, HDTV and DVI. Power DVD 6 2ch is included as a software player for DVDs, VCDs and SVCDs. Finally, a DVI-to-VGA adapter permits the card to be used with a second analog monitor.
