AMD today announced CrossfireX, a multi-GPU technology that will allow users to run up to four graphics cards within one system. CrossfireX will bb officially supported with the release of the Catalyst 8.3 driver, which is scheduled to be released for download tomorrow, March 5.
Quad-GPU configuration will accelerate "some applications" by up to 3.2x, according to AMD. The manufacturer says that the driver will support Radeon HD 3850, 3870 or HD 3870 cards.
