Philips 30PF9946/12: More Of The Same

Previous Next

Another calibration that looks just like the ones before.... Dark colors are still poorly rendered on the Philips 30PF9946/12. It looks as if we'd better get used to the idea that color rendering on 30" and 32" panels is basically a disaster.

Black spot White spot Contrast
1 272 272: 1

The overall conclusion we have to draw from the group of panels we measured is that 1 nit seems to be considered a black enough black for 30" TVs. You can't call it a quality, but it appears to be the status quo. Brightness, on the other hand, was at a good level.

Spatial Uniformity

Despite a certain disparity between the upper and lower parts of the panel, the Philips 30PF9946/12 was fairly uniform. The profile is odd-looking, yes; but all the values were grouped within 15% instead of the usual 20. That's encouraging.
