Corsair TWIN2X2048-9136C5D
Since we have two different platforms, we needed to use two processors that have similar overall performance. For the AMD based platform we used a dual-core Athlon 64 X2 5200+ (2.61 GHz). We used an Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 (2.13 GHz) for the other. While the clock frequencies are different, the performance is about the same. Please check our CPU charts if you like more clarity on their individual performances.
Other than the motherboard and processor, everything else was identical during the testing. We used 2 GB of Corsair TWIN2X2048-9136C5D, which is capable of operating at 1142 MHz but we left the chipset to run at the default frequency of 800 MHz. We loaded the operating system onto the Western Digital 150 GB Raptor WD1500ADFD, which also served as a storage drive. We used the Xbox 360 HD DVD player for video playback. See the chart below for additional details.
