The MythTV Convergence: Unofficial Plug-ins
MythRecipe
As the name implies, MythRecipe is an electronic catalog that allows you to browse among your favorite recipes online. This plug-in can also play back ambient music using your preferred audio playback software (mpg123 for example) or any URI specified in the Music Setup options.
MythStreamTV
MythStreamTV is a simple solution to the simple question: "How can I share my MythTV recordings over the Internet with another computer I own?" This plug-in lets you transcode video locally then stream it remotely via HTTP. MythStreamTV works for both live and recorded television feeds, and ties directly into MythWeb for complete remote control through a set of PHP scripts.
MythTiVo
MythTiVo has become a historical curiosity, now but still merits brief mention here. According to its developer's Web page, MythTiVo was last tested on MythTV version 0.11, which remains eight or more levels behind the most current release (0.20 as we write this story). Nevertheless, the plugin still makes appears in several locations online and thus remains noteworthy.
Simply put, MythTiVo is a graphical front-end that lets you select among Now Showing entries located on any networked TiVo device. This plug-in utilizes another program called TiVo MPlayer to interact with TiVo units, but that functionality has been incorporated in recent editions of MPlayer, so it's no longer necessary to use TiVo MPlayer.
