NEC and LaCie Lead On Professional LCD Gear

LaCie Blue-Eye 2

Unlike Gretag, LaCie doesn't offer the choice of starting in simple or advanced mode. Straight off the bat, the user is asked to enter the gamma and color temperature required, which is an approach more in line with the habits of potential users of a calibrator.

The user interface is simpler than Gretag's, but it's not bad. Unlike in Match 3, the Blue-Eye 2 software doesn't detect the position of the probe, but the user can position the target wherever he/she wishes as long as it isn't in the area of the OSD.

On the whole, we found the interactive adjustments of Blue-Eye 2 a bit slow. You have to wait a few seconds before seeing a cursor move on the screen, and the same goes for brightness and respective color levels. In each case you adjust, you wait, and then you see the result...

The results obtained are similar for the two calibrators with the range calculation. Unfortunately, there no precise graphics on the horizon from LaCie.
