BIOS And Overclocking

Previous Next
7:30 AM - 06/05/2007 by Thomas Soderstrom

The GA-P35T-DQ6 provides an excellent voltage and frequency range far beyond what knowledgeable overclockers would ever dream of needing. Most startling of these heights are CPU core voltage up to 2.35V and DRAM voltage up to 2.55V.

Gigabyte supports processors all the way back to Gallatin core Pentium 4 Extremes, so at least some of that available extra voltage could be useful. The advent of overclockable DDR3 may also see voltage increases take up a sizeable chunk of the board's excessive availability.

BIOS Frequency and Voltage settings (for overclocking)
FSB Frequency 100-700 MHz (1 MHz)
Clock Multiplier Adjustment Yes
DRAM Frequency FSB clock x 1.2, 1.5, 1.6, 2.0
PCIe Clock 100 - 150 MHz (1 MHz)
CPU Vcore 0.50000- 1.6000 - 2.35 Volts (0.00625/0.05 Volts)
CPU FSB Voltage 1.20 - 1.55 Volts (0.05 Volts)
Northbridge (MCH) 1.25 - 1.70 Volts (0.15 Volts)
Southbridge (ICH) 1.05/1.20 Volts
DRAM Voltage 1.50 - 2.55 Volts (0.05 Volts)
CAS Latency Range
tCAS: 4-10; tRCD: 1-15; tRP: 1-15; tRAS: 1-31

The Gigabyte GA-P35T-DQ6 reached the same 3.46 GHz speed as most other high end boards using an early-revision Core 2 Duo E6700 ES processor at 1.50V. Dropping the CPU multiplier to 6x allowed a bus speed increase to 457 MHz (FSB1828), nearly a record for this particular processor.

Hardware 1x 80-conductor Ultra ATA cable
1x Floppy Drive Cable
4x SATA Data Cable
2x eSATA Breakout Plate (2-drives each)
2x External Four-Pin to eSATA Power Adapter
2x eSATA to SATA Adapter Cables
2x USB Breakout Plate (2-port)
1x I/O Panel Shield
1x Gigabyte Case Badge

Gigabyte adds enough breakout plates to overcompensate for any ports missing from the board's rear panel, including two dual-eSATA adapters with additional 4-pin power, two external four-pin to SATA power adapters, and two eSATA to SATA data cables.

The remaining kit is suitable to most builds, with four SATA data cables coming up only two cables shy of the maximum number of drives supported by the chipset. Gigabyte evidently assumes its users will install both included eSATA adapter plates.
