AMD launches 4x4 platform Quad FX

AMD today announced availability of its four-core platform knows as "4x4." Called Quad FX, the technology represents the new flagship enthusiast platform from AMD, but it isn't quite the Core 2 Quad beater many expected. It is much more a cutting edge workstation platform - with all advantages and disadvantages.

ATI launches x1000 family of graphics cards, sort of

ATI today announces its next-generation graphic chip technology, previously referred to as "R520". There is good news and bad news for people who have been waiting for the new cards: ATI has a technology and strategy that will challenge Nvidia. But, unfortunately only few of the X1000 models are available today. Some versions of the lineup will follow with at least one month delay. -

Only a few weeks ago we learned from AMD's president Hector Ruiz that AMD is not feeling under any particular pressure to release the next speed grade Athlon processor, as long as the current models are successfully competing against the Pentium 4 products of archenemy Intel. A handful of reviewers and analysts know very well that samples of Athlon 1333 processors are running flawlessly for more than a month now. Today, on the first day of CeBIT2001/Germany, the world's largest computer convention, AMD is finally releasing its new high-speed Athlon processors. We have put them through rigorous testing. -
NVIDIA Launches Titanium Series

Another half year has passed since NVIDIA's last 3D chip launch in spring 2001. Following the old tradition, NVIDIA is now introducing a beefed up version of its spring release chip. The new GeForce3 Titanium 500 will from now on be NVIDIA's 3D chip flagship, while GeForce3 Titanium 200 is meant to provide GeForce3 performance at a more attractive price point. GeForce2 Titanium is meant to offer GeForce2 Ultra performance at a low price. -
