How to Get All 66 MHz Slot 1 CPUs Running 100 MHz
May 14, 1998 – 1:01 PM
I've fiddled around with BX chipset boards and 100 MHz front side bus Pentium II CPUs for quite a few weeks now. Playing around with all these components is one thing, but making you able to understand how it works and making myself feeling confident to write a meaningful article also requires a lot of reading -
Benchmark Marathon: 65 CPUs from 100 MHz to 3066 MHz
February 17, 2003 – 12:01 PM in Build Your Own
After 300 hours of testing in the Tom's Hardware labs, we bring you a comparison of 65 CPUs - from the Pentium 100 to the latest Athlon XP 3000+. It's a monster review with 13 different CPU platforms. -
600 MHz with Socket 7: The AMD K6-2+
July 13, 2000 – 1:03 PM in AMD/ATI
With the help of modern components an old PC system based on Socket 7 can almost achieve the performance of current PCs. We took the old boards to the limit. -
Showdown at 133 MHz FSB - Part 2, The Real McCoy
March 8, 2000 – 12:02 PM
This time we showed no mercy. We included the good old BX-chipset and ran it at 133 MHz FSB. It had to stick up against no less than Intel's great i840-chipset and of course i820 and VIA's Apollo Pro 133A as well. The results we found are rather shocking. -
The 150 MHz Project, Part 3
August 18, 2000 – 1:03 PM in INTEL
This time we had the i815 chipset running at 150 MHz. Is the Solano chipset able to beat the BX at this system clock speed? -
The 150 MHz Project, Part 2
May 3, 2000 – 1:03 PM
Last time we did some benchmarks using a VIA Apollo Pro 133A motherboard. As BX is obviously the faster chipset, we did all tests again at overclocked 133 MHz - and up to 1 GHz. -
The 150 MHz Project, Part 1
April 5, 2000 – 1:02 PM
Fast computers require fast bus speeds. How is the Pentium III performing at 150 MHz bus clock? -
Performance Showdown at 133 MHz FSB - The best Platform for Coppermine
March 2, 2000 – 12:02 PM
Which chipset supports Intel's latest Pentium III processors best? Is it Intel's 820 chipset with the super expensive RDRAM? Is it the same chipset, but with the cheaper SDRAM? Or might it not be VIA's Apollo Pro 133A chipset in the end? We'll show you which it is. -
100 MHz Front Side Bus - What's the Beef ?
April 16, 1998 – 1:01 PM
Intel launches a new chipset called 440BX. It is the first official product in the PC business that offers a system bus of 100 MHz. Intel calls it 'front side bus' -
100 MHz Motherboard Clock Frequency for Socket 7 - First Results
July 21, 1997 – 1:00 PM in CeBIT
A quick look at Intel's latest road map and AMD's promises at Cebit 97 leave no doubts that the times of 66 MHz system clock frequency -
VapoChill Puts a Pentium 4 with 800 MHz FSB within Reach
February 24, 2003 – 12:01 PM in CeBIT
THG shows you what kind of performance Intel's next Pentium 4 chipset, called "Canterwood," will have to offer. A Granite Bay board, a 2.26 GHz Pentium 4 and AseTek's cooling technology made it possible for us to accelerate the test system to almost 800 MHz FSB and 3.4 GHz processor clock. -
AMD Launches Athlon Processor at 1300 and 1333 MHz
March 22, 2001 – 12:05 PM in Business
Only a few weeks ago we learned from AMD's president Hector Ruiz that AMD is not feeling under any particular pressure to release the next speed grade Athlon processor, as long as the current models are successfully competing against the Pentium 4 products of archenemy Intel. A handful of reviewers and analysts know very well that samples of Athlon 1333 processors are running flawlessly for more than a month now. Today, on the first day of CeBIT2001/Germany, the world's largest computer convention, AMD is finally releasing its new high-speed Athlon processors. We have put them through rigorous testing. -
The 75/83 MHz Bus Speed Project
July 3, 1997 – 1:00 PM
The first time that we all heard of 75 MHz bus speed was, when the Cyrix 6x86 P200+ was launched -
Intel's Next Paper Release: The Pentium III at 1133 MHz
July 31, 2000 – 1:03 PM
After the shameful defeat in the Giga Hertz race Intel is now trying to leapfrog AMD. By squeezing the last bit of performance out of the well-known Coppermine core Intel created a very fast processor. The fact that it is the most unreliable and instable CPU Intel has ever released equalizes the fact that it will hardly be available. -
CES 2007: Patriot to demonstrate 1302 MHz memory modules
January 2, 2007 – 4:33 PM
Pre CES 2007 coverage - Patriot is joining the latest DDR2 memory frenzy. Following Corsair's PC2-8888 Dominator (1111 MHz), OCZ's liquid cooled PC2-9200 FlexXLC (1150 MHz) and Kingston's HyperX PC2-9600 (1200 MHz), the company said it would show PC2-10100 devices with a clock speed of 1302 MHz at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show.
