Data access is quite fast with the WD1000BB. Yet there are some drives, including older models, that have even faster access time. As you can see in the diagram above, this number does not seem to be very important for demanding applications. Obviously, advanced drive management, including smart cache algorithms, has a greater influence on overall performance, so in the end, this says a lot more about performance than just the bare numbers from the test results.
Drive Temperature

A surface temperature of 45°C is acceptable for a drive that performs as well as the WD1000BB.
