CPU Charts 2008 Q1/2008
Tom's Interactive CPU Charts offer the most comprehensive x86 processor comparison on the Internet. The 2008 edition includes as many as 91 AMD and Intel desktop processors, which we tested across 35 individual benchmarks under Windows Vista. The benchmarks include industry standard software as well as popular workloads across multiple application categories, allowing you to find the CPU that meets your requirements (see benchmark details below the charts). The Charts are also a valuable tool if you want to check how your computer stacks up against current hardware. The 2008 charts include three different processor generations, starting with AMD's Socket 939 Athlons and Semprons, and including all Pentium 4 and Pentium D processors that were released for Socket 775.
CPU Charts 2004
It's finally here - a true performance comparison between AMD and Intel processors. This will allow ambitious users as well as OEM partners and especially dealers to compare their systems with our reference values. What's special about this is a feature that it lets you directly compare two different CPUs of your choice. Simply select the desired models and a benchmark, and the appropriate chart appears. The two CPUs are displayed in the diagrams as specially marked red bars. Shown at the very bottom is also some important additional information: the absolute and relative difference between the two models. If you click on any of the bars on the chart, a pop-up window appears with data about that particular test configuration we used.

Mobo makers voice concerns about southbridge supply after ATI's Crossfire 3200 launch

With ATI set to roll out its PCI Express (PCIe) CrossFire Xpress 3200 (RD580) chipset for high-end AMD solutions, motherboard makers are expressing concern about a potential southbridge supply shortage, as ATI partner Uli Electronics (ULi) was recently acquired by Nvidia.
ATI announces dual x16 Crossfire 3200 chipset

ATI today introduced its Crossfire 3200 chipset, which was formerly code-named RD580. The dual-graphics chipset offers two x16 PCI Express slots and allows users to install two graphics cards without the need for a master/slave configuration, at least if they are not X1800 or X1900 versions.
1394 Trade Association Announces FireWire 3200

A new proposal to bring 4x faster speeds over FireWire 800 is approaching the final ratification phase. Beginning in February, 2008, a 3.2 Gbps FireWire could be standard fare for future machines, using the same cables and connectors.
