4850 or 4870 for 1280x1024 resolution?. I have a standard 17 inch monitor that plays at 1280x1024.My next graphics upgrade will either be the 4850 or the 4870(or maybe the 9800 GTX+).Many of the reviews that i've seen of these cards have really high resolutions...

hope you can understand me, thanks! you wouldnt lose any performance although the HD4870 is overkill for your monitor.if you were to compare a 4850 and a 4870 at 1280x1024 resolution you wouldnt see any difference,its when you start gaming on 22 inch screens...

I would try to shoot for the 4870, if your funds allow you to. But then again, your gaming at a lower res, so a 4850 would work really good also. And to answer you question of Crossfire X, yes you can simply add another 4850 or 4870 later if you so choose....
