Tom's Interactive Mobile CPU Charts focus on popular mobile processors, which are used in laptops and notebooks because of their increased energy efficiency. We tested nine AMD and Intel processors tested across 15 different benchmarks using Windows XP.

CPU Charts 2004
It's finally here - a true performance comparison between AMD and Intel processors. This will allow ambitious users as well as OEM partners and especially dealers to compare their systems with our reference values. What's special about this is a feature that it lets you directly compare two different CPUs of your choice. Simply select the desired models and a benchmark, and the appropriate chart appears. The two CPUs are displayed in the diagrams as specially marked red bars. Shown at the very bottom is also some important additional information: the absolute and relative difference between the two models. If you click on any of the bars on the chart, a pop-up window appears with data about that particular test configuration we used.

Intel's multi-processor, dual-core Xeon 7000 debuts

Lately, news coming out of Intel's digital enterprise group was not quite exciting. Delayed, scrapped and replaced processors were enough for some media to see the company in a 'self-destruction' mode. However, the server department continues its dual-core transition and today introduced the multi-processor version of the Xeon chip.

Intel: Dual-core Xeon at IDF

Intel will follow AMD and demonstrate its first dual-core processor on September 7 during the opening day keynote of this year's IDF Fall. The company hopes that "multi-core" processors will open a new performance chapter for processors and enable the use of next-generation applications.

Intel launches first dual-core Xeon processor, challenges AMD's Opteron

"Paxville" is Intel's first shot in the volume server and workstation segment: The new processor, in its core a version of the Pentium D 800 series, will go head-to-head with AMD's dual-core Opteron, so far the only dual-core option for servers and workstations. Intel announced that it will use aggressive pricing to push Paxville into the market.

Intel launches "Sossaman" dual-core blade server processor

Intel announced the third variant of its Yonah processor core. Next to Core Duo and Core Solo, the company now offers the blade server CPU Xeon LV, formerly code-named Sossaman. The chip is Intel's first low-voltage dual-core processor and promises at least twice the energy efficiency of preceding single-core Xeon processors.

Asustek debuts dual-core Intel Xeon server boards
