More clock speed for Pentium D with arrival of 900-series

Intel will renovate its complete desktop processor product line in 2006. 65 nm processors will replace current single and dual-core Pentiums, Yonah will be officially introduced as mobile and desktop processor for small form factor devices. But Intel will not be able to increase speed levels dramatically until the arrival of its next-generation processor architecture, Tom's Hardware Guide has learned. -

Intel's decision to cancel the 4 GHz Pentium 4 580J shifts the bragging rights for the fastest desktop processors into AMD's hands for some time. The Athlon 64 FX-55 and 4000+ outpace Intel's processors on paper as well as in benchmarks. Intel plans to stay competitive with larger cache sizes until dual-core chips are available. -
Nvidia to offer Vista drivers with Beta 2 arrival

Nvidia on Wednesday said that it will release a driver designed for its graphics cards running under Microsoft's Vista operating system as soon as the Beta 2 of the software becomes available.
