By selling advertisements in one-pixel increments, Tew quickly made one million dollars in about four months, but criminals are now taking notice. Last week hackers sent an email asking for $5,000 for them not to launch a denial of service attack.

    A small Iowa-based ISP has been awarded a huge $11.2 billion dollar judgment against a Florida spammer. CIS Internet Services in Clinton Iowa sued James McCalla of Florida for sending 280 million email messages into the CIS network. Since 1996, the CIS network was a conduit for McCalla's emails which contained spoofed return information.
  • Judge throws out $30 million dollar MySpace suit

    A judge has thrown out a $30 million dollar lawsuit against MySpace that was filed by parents of a 13-year-old Austin girl that was molested by someone she met on the world's most popular social networking website. U.S. District Court Judge Sam Sparks ruled that MySpace was protected under the 1996 Communications Decency Act and couldn't reasonably be expected to verify everyone's age.
