Mobo help

has an OK chart that shows Raptor single and RAID against a few other HDD's. I'd like to see actual benchies, not level loading times, but that's all I see for now. Even the Raptor on it's own shows only a marginal increase over a single SATA drive. article...

Question about WD Raptors

when I built my rig last week. 2 75 in Raid? 1 150? 2 150 in Raid? I found this link that did benchmark testing on the 75's and 150 raptors in single and raid array. I decided to go with just one raptor 150 verse two in raid. When something...

Raid 0 or Raptor???. I have a 320gb WD HDD, , and was wondering how would 2 of these drives do in Raid 0 compared to a single raptor 150 gb. I mainly game and watch movies on my pc . Also if I do go for the Raptor it will be one off ebay for cheap since...

Two 150GB raptors in RAID0 vs one Velociraptor?

SSD from Intel or OCZ summit. The only way to dramatically improve load times and boot time is to move to SSd or 2x SSD raid 0. RAID 0 over the single raptor, whether it be 150s or caviars. If you are really needing that much speed and space, yes. If you...

extremely well. The difference in loading a game with raid 0 and a single raptor is about 1 second. Hardly worth the additional problems striped array brings with it. I have 2 74 gig raptors and 1 36gig raptor, setup as single drives, and am very pleased with...

Fast Or Reasonable Hard Drives?

WD4000KD, the Raptor in a RAID 0 setup and the WD4000 in a RAID 0 setup. We decided to use the 400 GB WD 7,200 RPM drive, since two of these match the cost of a single Raptor. Let's see if the "budget RAID" fades facing the Raptor, or if it holds up. ...

Windows Experience Index says my disk transfer rate sucks

I ended up going with a Barracuda 7200.12, they're pretty close and in benchmarks almost equal but you get much more storage for your $ as well. For $NZ160 (~120USD) I can setup 2 x 320Gb 7200.12's in RAID0, where a single Raptor costs double that (here anyway)....

any kind of temporary OS for any main machine... its simply a pain. The 99 dollars for Vista is not worth the time I would spend reinstalling the OS multiple times over the years I have the machine. p5k VM? A single Raptor would beat RAID arrays...
