Samsung reveals 8G and 9G production schedules

Samsung Electronics expects to start operating an eighth-generation (8G) TFT LCD plant in the second half of 2007, with a 9G plant to start volume production in 2009 at the latest, according to Sang Wan Lee, president of Samsung's LCD Business, as quoted by the South Korea-based Chosun Ilbo.
Intel schedules Pentium Extreme Edition 955 for Q1 2006

Intel will introduce a new dual-core Extreme Edition processor early next year: The current Pentium EE 840 will be succeeded by the Pentium EE 955, a 65 nm chip based on the Presler core. The dual-core processor will support Hyper-Threading and come with a clock speed of 3.46 GHz.

AMD schedules first 65nm processor shipments for H2 2006

AMD today said that it is on track to ship its first 65 nm processors in the second half of this year. The company claims that it already has been producing a significant number of 65nm development test chips to lay the foundation for a volume conversion of its manufacturing process by mid-2007.

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) will announce the Rev G Turion 64 X2 and Mobile Sempron CPU lineups, which will debut as the chip vendor's first 65 nm-made mobile processors, in 2007, according to motherboard makers familiar with AMD's latest CPU roadmap.
