ATI releases DirectX 10 SDK

Game developers and animation artists today received a new software development kit (SDK) based on Microsoft's upcoming DirectX 10 multimedia engine. The software will allow a first peak at new effects such as shadow volume extrusion and streaming out of animation data.

Showa Denko K.K. (SDK) claims that it is first to have started mass production perpendicular recording platters for harddrives. According to the company the 1.8" discs double the capacity of current devices to 40 GByte per platter.

At an early morning session of TechEd 2006, representatives of the Windows Live development team showed off a new set of open developers' tools and SDKs available now from Microsoft's new Web developers' site, unveiled last Friday. Among the features shown is the ability for Web developers to quickly create "mashups" - aggregate, composite Web sites with very little development effort.
