New IrDA spec shoots for 100Mbit/s data rates

The Infrared Data Association (IrDA) has adopted a new high-speed-infrared communications protocol for mobile devices that aims to deliver 100Mbit/s data transfer rates - some 25 times the data rates of today's IrDA interfaces.
AMD releases virtualization spec "Pacifica" for AMD64 platform

AMD released the full specification of its virtualization technology "Pacifica" at the LinuxWorld Summit. Pacifica promises to bring hardware and software-based virtualization capabilities to AMD64 servers, workstations, desktops and mobile computers.

Everplay standard to preserve digital images and movies

Fuji, Konica Minolta and Eastman Kodak today released the final specification of "Everplay," a set of rules that promises users to ensure compatibility of today's digital pictures and movies with future storage media. Formerly known as "picture archiving and sharing standard (PASS)," the group hopes that Everplay makes its way into media post-production and eventually into digital cameras and playback devices thereafter.
