I'm running Windows 8.1 Preview and I keep getting the ":( uncorrectable error" message. I thought it may be a hardware problem but after running memtest86 I found nothing. I've checked my drivers and they're all up to date to my knowledge. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. My system is an Asus Z87-Pro Motherboard, EVGA Geforce GTX 770, I-5 4670k, 8gb Corsair Vengeance RAM, WD 1TB Hard Drive, Corsair Gaming Series 700 Watt Power Supply. I use a Cooler Master Storm Scout 2 Case. I've checked all my internal temperatures and they're also fine, all my fans are working well.

Solution
Probably a Windows error. Try to see if System File Checker will fix it for you
Winkey plus 'X'
Choose Command Prompt (Admin)
Type sfc /scannow then Enter

You could also try chkdsk
At CMD Prompt
Type chkdsk /f /r then Enter. (note spaces before /). Type Y and Enter to run the program when you restart Windows. Expect it to take a long time if you have a large drive. Use this to check out the chkdsk log

Thank you for the assistance. I tried this and many many other things over the course of two weeks. The problem was finally fixed by a bios update and a change to XMP. Not sure which did the trick but after doing both of those the computer has ran perfectly. It's been quite some time so I assume this issue is completely resolved and I couldn't be happier about it.

I am running the same motherboard and have had the same problem since I built the machine. It has been BSD at std. clock speeds. The only real difference is the HD where I have 2TB. It's a mystery and an annoyance for almost 3 months.

Did you try SFC?
If corrupt files are found that can’t be fixed, try

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth (Observe spaces before /)

Re-run SFC
In fact you should run Dism anyway, it compares your Windows Installation with an online image and corrects any differences...
