Hello everyone,

Before I explain my situation, here are some things I want you to know: I'm a novice at computers and I have a Dell Optiplex gx620. I'm currently on my laptop since I can't even use that desktop at the moment. Today, I recently installed a ram stick into the slot. Originally I didn't know what I was doing and I played around with the hardware. I didn't pull out cables but i carefully pull out the hdd thinking the slots were there. However, I realized it wasn't and found the slot location. I place my ram stick. As a result, I got at indicator that the desktop detected memory changes but it was followed by the windows error message and followed by the BSOD. I took out my ram stick and still got the same problem. I don't know what to do and I'm desperate!!!

Solution
Try resetting the CMOS, unplug the power, find the mobo battery, remove it for a few minutes, put it back in, plug in and boot with only the new stick in slot 1, if that works, can go from there, or shut down and try adding the other

Solution
Since you did not stated your form factor

take a look at your manual ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_optiplex_desktop/optiplex-gx620_user%27s%20guide_en-us.pdf

click on your form factor and read about removing/replacing parts especially memory.
You could simply place memory stick into the wrong slot.

Report back.
