I recently bought the monitor(Asus vg248qe) and was testing to see the 144hz while gaming. Every time I have my computer set to 144hz and I start a game a blue colored screen and some white lines appears and the computer restarts displaying a "send details" message as soon as I access my user account again. This does not happen when using 120hz. I have smooth gameplay at 120hz. Some games display up to 200 fps which makes me guess that raw power is not the issue. My laptop runs on 2 crossfire 7970m and my cpu is an i7. I am using a Displayport cable to connect the laptop with the monitor. What else would you suggest to fix the problem?

Things that I have tried:
I tried plugging them in to two different power source to see if it was a power shortage with no result.
I update my gpu drivers to the latest one I could find (13.11 beta 6)

Solution
You may find that using 120hz with Lightboost is preferred to 144hz (not available with Lightboost).

I'm having the exact same issue on my PC, with the Radeon HD 7990. Same exact blue screen with lines. I'm not running the new 13.11 beta of catalyst, but considering that didn't help you, no reason to try that right now.

Looking around the internet, this is a widely reported issue, and I've yet to encounter a solution. 144hz crashes games automatically, but 120 runs them fine.

I'm not running a displayport cable though. I'm on a dual-link DVI. 144hz works on the computer until a game is loaded.

It's a hardware acceleration issue. Using catalysts, set your refresh rate to 120hz. Go to a flash website such as youtube, watch video and right click on it. Deselect hardware acceleration.

Return catalysts to 144hz setting, it should work.

Had this same issue and it drove me bonkers til' I found the solution.

I've had the same problem with the blue screen sometimes when playing video's on web pages. I'm also noticing another problem since I upgraded to this monitor. The gpu clock in catalyst control centre is constantly skipping between 500mhz and then full clock speed. it works fine in 3d aplications but goes back to 500mhz when idle or watching video. I'm using amd radeon hd 7970 in crossfire and a dvi cable to connect it to the vg248qe. Can't for the life of me figure out what is causing it. Also when I boot my computer I can't see the boot screen, the monitor stays off till windows password screen is displayed and says no signal.
