Hi, i've been getting a few blue screens lately, not that many, maybe 1-2 a week. they only seem to occur when browsing the internet or watching a video, it never happens when playing games, (most games, some can give me a BsOD though) but the real problem here is i don't get any Minidumps?.. i have it set to create a minidump uppon a BSoD.

also, at first i noticed there was no minidump file, so i created one but that should not matter right? or is there a difference when i create one?..

Solution
not getting a minidump when you get a bluescreen can be cause by several things:
- machine not configured to save mini dump
- drive could not be accessed at the time of the crash.
intermittent cable connection, failure in SATA controller, drive reset but not hotswap enabled in BIOS, firmware bugs in older solid state drives. Bugs in CPU chipset drivers for the SATA chip on the motherboard (update driver)
- certain bugcheck codes related to overclocking/overheating will shutdown the CPU and may give no minidump or a partial minidump. These can be related to certain partial power failure conditions, GPU not getting proper power pulls too much power from the motherboard slot, causes the CPU to power to dip too low and the CPU...

you have to set it to create a minidumo file when there is a bsod.

Press Win+ break keys, click on advanced system settings -> go to startup and recovery settings -> in the system failure area check kernel memory dump, and select a path, usually it is %SystemRoot%\MEMORY.DMP, you can set it to any path you like.

It seems I face same problem. Additionally, I've noticed that right before the BSOD occurs, the sound and the sound driver software (Realtek HD audio manager) die. I sould also note that the problem started out of thin air, sometime in November 2014. No manual updates or hardware changes were made at that time.
If you could post any solutions you find, I would be gratefull.

- bugs in power management can spin down a drive and not allow it to spin back up so the system can not write the minidump file.

- even power supply can overheat and its voltage regulation fluctuates and the system can bugcheck
(be sure to check that all fans are spinning up, blow the dust out of them)
