Im looking to buy an LGA 2011-v3 compatible motherboard for my cpu however I currently have 16gb of G-Skill 8GB Ripjaws X DDR3 2133Mhz memory. The specific motherboard im looking to get is the MSI Intel Lga2011-3 X99S Sli Plus 8x DDR4 12x USB 3.0 Gbe Lan Atx Motherboard.

Will my ram even fit into the ddr4 slots? If not are there any lga2011-3 mobos that support ddr3?

Solution
no your ram will not. you must buy DDR4 ram (which are expensive).

no lga 2011-3 motherboard support DDR3, one of the main features of lga 2011-3 is that it uses ddr4 exclusively.

Sorry bro, your bad luck started here.
DDR4 memories have far different design from DDR3. DDR4 have 288 pins architecture and that of DDR3 have 240 pin. Also the small nab in the slot that seperate the pins in two pieces and it helps that we are installing it in right way(I hope you will understand) is in different place. So DDR3 memory cannot be installed in DDR4 slot and no, you cannot find any motherboard with LGA2011-3 slot having DDR3 slot as that motherboard uses x99 chipset which needs DDR4 memory.

/pedantic-mode on

LGA-2011-3 has all of the necessary pinouts to support DDR3 and haswell-E/EN/EP architecture supports both DDR3 and DDR4. All Haswell-EN chips use DDR3, and some Haswell-EP chips support both DDR3 and DDR4, motherboard dependent of course. It would not be a stretch to assume that Haswell-E is technically capable of doing the same.
