After dealing on and off again with BSODs all relating to ntoskrnl on windows 7, and having eliminated faulty ram and wiped and re installed my drivers multiple times, I finally reformatted my hard drives and upgraded to 8.1 last week. Initially I was no longer experiencing crashes, however, after a few days Dota 2 and CS:GO both started to crash, but I wasn't experiencing any blue screens. Tonight, however, I got a SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION error in the middle of a dota 2 game, originating from ntoskrnl.exe. This issue is driving me crazy, please help me!

I've been having this issue since I've had the PC, and it's persisted through a video card change, so it wouldn't surprise me if it's the logitech headset I use, since that's one of the only things that hasn't changed.
What program should I use to test my video card? It's an Nvidia geforce gtx 760.

Unplug everything except the mouse keyboard and see what happens.

What PSU do you have?

My PSU is a corsair cx 600. I'll try and see if unplugging everything fixes my issue later tonight and get back to you if I have any crashes.

I don't think that's it, most of the time the game just crashes, the display never shuts off or anything like that.

Because the GPU isn't receiving enough power and craps out. It's not unheard of, and would explain why you get the same problem and two installs of Windows with two different videocards.

You've ruled out everything else.

Yeah, had nothing plugged in but keyboard and mouse, dota 2 still crashed. How can I test my vram like you suggested earlier? Any good way to see if I have a faulty psu?

Just try another another PSU and see what happens. Unless you've overclocked the videocard, I highly doubt it's the card.

Try Kombuster, it's a bit dated though.

http://www.geeks3d.com/20140917/msi-kombustor-3-5-0-gpu-burn-in-stress-test-opengl-opencl-benchmark/

These are the best two I've found, they find issues immediately, although you may get false positives and they aren't easy to configure. It's all commandline from CMD
https://simtk.org/home/memtest

I assume your drivers and Windows patches are up to date.
I'd also make sure your motherboard BIOS and any firmware and drivers are up to date. Check the manufacture website.

My friend has another psu they're willing ot let me test with, I'll report back later tonight and see if anything still crashes

remove this driver:( MSI Afterburner driver )
C:\Program Files (x86)\MSI\Live Update\NTIOLib_X64.sys Tue Oct 19 23:45:49 2010

reboot and see if you can get another bugcheck.
the rest of your drivers look good.

Haven't been getting any bugchecks lately, might run driver verifier to force some tomorrow. Dota 2 is still consistently crashing after about an hour and a half or so of playtime. This makes me think it would be a heat issue, but my temps are never above 65C or so, and there's never any graphical glitches or sound delay or anything funky like that, just a clean crash to desktop. I'll test a different psu tomorrow and come back with updates.
Thanks a lot for all the help so far, guys.

Everything is updated, and I've validated the game cache several times. Last night I noticed it helped to restart the game in between matches, I wonder if it's causing some sort of memory leak or something. Just got the different PSU, gonna see if that changes anything.

Open the task manager and just see if the RAM is exceeding 99%

Can't test the psu until this weekend, but the game is crashing like clockwork after about 30 of in-game time, which sounds like a heat or memory leak issue, but my card never goes above 73C or so. Additionally, my friend recommended I run unigen valley for awhile to make sure my card isn't crashing, and I ran it for about a half hour last night with no problems whatsoever. I'll have to check again for a memory leak next time I get a chance. Also haven't bsod'd since that first time I did. I'm thinking this is an issue solely with dota 2. Is there a way to analyze the dota minidumps? I posted them on the dota dev but have still yet to get a response. I'll link them here and here as well.

Again, thanks for all the help with this.

Memory Leak wouldn't neccesarily bluescreen. It would just bring your memory up to 100% and leave it there. It's not a memory leak. If you've run Memtest86 and found nothing, it's not your memory either.

Any idea what do do now?

why do you have this old mouse driver installed?
\SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\t_mouse.sys Sun Dec 02 22:19:30 2012
iBall Advanced Mouse Input software ???

between windows 8 and windows 8.1 there were design changes for mouse drivers. You might want to get a updated driver. Or run verifier.exe on the 3rd party drivers to see if they are making common driver mistakes.
how to run verifier:http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/65331-using-driver-verifier-identify-issues-drivers.html

be sure to set your memory dump type to kernel or full so the debug info is not stripped out. (also reboot)

Ran driver verifier for 16 or so hours, encountered no bsods. Still havent had one since that initial bsod about a week ago. The only problem now is dota is consistently crashing after a half hour or so of playtime.

Update: got a bluescreen about 10 minutes ago. Here's a link to the minidump.
