Hey there.

I have an Inspiron 660s PC. Slimline, all that good stuff.

It has a 220W PSU, and I'm wondering if I can upgrade from integrated graphics.

I've seen a video and some forum posts about just skidding by on 300W cards.

I'm looking at a 6570 and a GTX 620. Can I get by with my PSU being at 220W, when these cards recommend 300W?

Get your wallet ready and keep you jaw from falling.
You can actually go for GTX750TI, just avoid serious GPU benchmarking and GPU stress testing, games are OK.

Is this is your motherboard?

Huge picture, my concern is how close PCIE slot is to the side end of motherboard - how thick card can be to fit?

This is the best for you (however not sure about fitting)
MSI N750ti-2GD5TLP GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5

Go to page 2 newegg reviews for checking 200 watt confirmation.

As fitting is concerned, take a measure from PCIE slot to the side of your case, and, since it is slim, are there any obstacles on the top of the card, check it as well.
This is MSI measurements
Card Dimension(mm) 146x69x38 where 38 is how thick this card is, 69 is height

Your card choices will work as well, if you find which one can fit.

I just found another picture, it is not looking good for you, so little space

Even if any cards fit, card fan will be very close to the side part of the case - problems with ventilation. So, most likely, you need very slim, skinny card.
State you budget and I will look one more time for anything below 750TI.

You owe me a beer, I just reviewed about 100 cards for fitting, those selected should all fit, I did not check about present low profile bracket (sometimes missed by manufacturer), prices up to $100 or so.
So far this is the list with strongest GT740 and R7250
GIGABYTE GeForce GT 720 GV-N720D3-1GL 1GB 64-Bit DDR3
MSI GeForce GT 720 N720-2GD3LP 2GB 64-Bit DDR3
PNY GeForce GT 730 VCGGT7301D5LXPB 1GB 64-Bit GDDR5
SAPPHIRE Radeon R7 240 100369LP 2GB DDR3
ASUS Radeon R7 240 R7240-2GD3-L 2GB 128-Bit DDR3
EVGA GeForce GT 740 02G-P4-3740-KR 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5
XFX Core Edition Radeon R7 250 R7-250A-CLF4 2GB 128-Bit DDR3
PNY GT 700 GeForce GT 740 VCGGT7401D3LXPB 1GB 128-Bit DDR3
VisionTek Radeon R7 250 900702 1GB 128-Bit GDDR5

Enough for today, not even with free beer.

So you budget max, if you want stronger card.

Solution
Can I ask why you want to upgrade to a dedicated video card? If your wanting to game, get as fast as possible.

Now since your limited to only being a single slot card and stuck with it being so close to the side of the case, make sure you get a card with a fan to help out with the limited airflow, other then that it should be ok.

All my options have fans, and they all must fit, as they are completely single slot, no protruding parts beyond card's bracket.

I didn't see your post till after I posted mine.

LOL, I realized this by looking at the time (right before my previous post), but hoped you seen my post and would edit yours.......
Yes, OP did not stated PC purpose, so anything fly here.

Im not sure what you want me to edit in "my" post as I feel it doesn't conflict with anything you mentioned, but sure I'll edit I guess......

I owe you like 14 free beers. Thanks man. And really, I might just build another PC, seeing slimline is like the worst way to go. Thanks everyone for their replies.

While you build your new PC, you need something, right, so get some card and enjoy my beer while getting ready for something more dramatic than upgrading. Plus, it is a good practice to have more than one PC/laptop, in case if something happens to main PC. I have 2 desktops or actually floortops (standing on the floor) and one old laptop - always connected, no matter what (not counting gadgets, I hate small screens and onscreen keyboards).
