I had to reset my password for my wifi. I see two choices for wifi but only the 5G one will accept new password. Help

Solution
Redo the 2.4Ghz password in the router's web controls. Delete the network from your saved networks. In whichever device you were trying to connect with.

By the way. I don't bother with giving 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks different names. Just give them the exact same password, encryption type and SSID. Then let the device automatically choose the best signal.

Set the rules to only accept 802.11ac connections on 5Ghz. So, it never has to downgrade the connection for an older device although I don't think n has much impact on ac, but why not set it this way? Only allow 802.11n and older devices on 2.4Ghz. Although I only allow 802.11n on 2.4 as I have nothing older. As long as you have a good router or access point and strong signal. The 802.11ac connection should easily handle multiple HD streams, browsing, gaming, &c.

Personally, if something is stationary. Like a TV. I run an Ethernet cable. So, it gets a hardwired Gigabit connection. Of course I also have four access points setup on the same SSID, Encryption type and key. Everywhere in the house including garage has a strong signal which any WiFi device will connect to the strongest signal.

Yeah, wanted to run hardwire, but modem/router is not a viable access, and TV is downstairs, with no viable access without doin a bunch of drywall damage. TV and phones are wireless, from a Asus RT-N66U, so everything runs N anyways. I get 130/13 on 5 and 30/13 on 2.4, so I'm pretty decent. The only old devices I have are my pc's and the router and modem, so that's a moot point lol.
