Then it comes down to what game it is. Most games still use 4 cores easily, and I don't think the remaining 4 threads(if we just assume to be weaker cores) would be enough to run a stream and a few tabs together. You need a hexa core processor at least, especially for games that use a lot of processing power. If you're running CS GO or Fortnite, you can run off the 7700K just fine.
Edit: You'll also need 16 gigs of RAM, since most games eat up the 8 gigs of RAM pretty easily.
well the main game im playing at the minute is Overwatch? and i am getting 16GB RAM im upgradng my CPU my RAM and installing a SSD
Honestly you can probably live off an i7 7700K then. Overwatch likes to use 4 cores, more if possible, but a browser tab or two, even with live streams, can run in the background without much hindrance to performance. One of the most major factors in this recommendation is that to upgrade beyond the 7700K, to a hexa core processor, you'll need to upgrade the motherboard too, which becomes a little too much.
As for how long the processor will last, it depends on how fast games start using six cores easily, and how long it takes for you to start playing these games.
yeah i dont understand the issue with my motherboard, i have a Asus strix B250H GAMING: ATX, LGA1151 and the company ill be having the upgrades done by only say im allowed either an i5 7600, i5 7600k, i7 7700 and the i7 7700k there the only cpus that are available to me? i dont know if you know a thing or two about motherboards and know why that is?
Well there's also the sixth generation processors - those will also work, but they're pretty much a downgrade. Other than the processors you've mentioned, no other processors will work in your motherboard. In fact, an i7 7700K wouldn't be overclockable in your motherboard, so keep in mind you'll only be able to run it at stock clock speeds. To overclock it you need a Z270 board, and I would NOT recommend buying a Z270 anymore, since it's immensely outdated now, and a Z370 board with an 8th gen processor would make much more sense.
So, yes, those are the only chips you can use with your motherboard. The company who'll upgrade for you is right. This is mainly because Intel is being a d**k about motherboard chipset compatibility, so a Z270 board does not support 8th gen processors.
