changed thermal paste, now GPU gets too hot and restarts

Two weeks ago i changed thermal paste of my GPU because card is +4years but there really was no need and now i regret it so much.

Now my GPU under load easily goes 80C and my computer restarts.
Sometimes it restarts at even 75C.

When i turn the AC ON in my room then temp stays at 69-70C under load and runs fine for hours without any problem.

When i don't turn on AC then i open sliding door of my case and temps stay between 65-70C and nothing happens under load.

Can anyone please tell me what is happening that when my GPU goes to +75C why is it triggering restart?

Is my thermal paste not touching heatsink properly or what?

Specs:
GPU- HD 7950 3gb boost sapphire with dual fans
I5 3570K
Corsair Cx 600W
8gb ram
Everything at stock speed

Thermal paste looses it´s properties while getting old, how old is the paste?

If it´s the cheapest cooler master thermal paste, I would try to use Arctic MX-2 or MX-4. The HTK-002-U1 coolermaster paste is really a bad choice. About 10K difference in temperature.

Did you assemble the cooling correctly? Did you remove the thermal pads of this?

Your GPU internals are overheating despite your GPU overall temps are within specs,
- Improve airflow around your GPU and adjust GPU fan curve (might had reset to lower speed and softer curve) through MSI afterburner.
- Consider double checking thermal paste application not overlapping on other components and proper alignment of assembly of your card for tight fit of VRMs and ram heatpads and heatsink.

check if the fans are still spinning

the usually normal max. temp. for this card should be at about 60°C, but up to 93°C it shouldn´t shutdown or throttle.

remove thermal paste again and reapply new thermal paste. which one did you use?
the cooler is sitting plane on the GPU chip?
be sure the scews are tight but not overtightend, tighten these crossed like this:

Check if your processor cooler still sits tight. How hot is the CPU getting?

i use a cheap cooler master thermal paste but i doubt that is the case because i have read that cheapest and highest one don't have much difference and my cpu temp is fine with that same paste and doesn't go above 75C with stock cooler and stock clock.
i will try reapplying thermal paste and this time i will put more instead of dot.

Yes and no; branded and manufacturer freebie pastes are all much of a muchness; only a few degrees between the best and the worst for most people; however there is some really nasty Chinese stuff being sold that is about as effective as mud.
It is a grey paste that usually comes in a large syringe; you get a lot for your money, but mayonnaise works better.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is to put too much on; it is only meant to fill the microscopic gaps between the two surfaces; if you trowel it on, it wont work properly.

FYI
I have a large tube of industrial compound meant for power transistors, that I have been using since the mid eighties, that is nearly as good as the best compounds I have tried.

When I say "large tube"; there is probably enough for the great great grandkids to use, and my daughter is still only 5.
