Dell 790 DT HD7570

Hello, asking to find an answer to my dilemma.

I have a Dell 790 DT, i received a AMD HD 7570 for free and tried to install. It wont recognize in the x16 slot but will in the x1 slot. I tried this on another Dell 790 and it does the same thing. I even tried different OS, first windows 7 then windows 10. Any help to get the card recognized would be helpful.

There is a good chance the 16x slot has a power draw limit to prevent overdrawing from the slot or adding too powerful of a GPU to overload the PSU. It should be printed on the board near the slot if it is power limited.

I just find that odd because the x1 slot has a 10w limit and is still recognized.

The 16x slot may be dead, on both pc's maybe. That or the GPU is dead. It was free after all.

Slot isn't dead, tried an hd6450, works fine. Card isn't dead, recognized in x1 slot as hd7570.

Try Booting into Safe Mode (F6) create a System Restore point, and remove the old GPU drivers.
Install new GPU, and in Safe Mode + Internet install new drivers. The restore point is in case it doesn't work.
I don't see a PCIe slot power limit in the service manual for that system.

That's in the 1x slot, there may be dead or shorting pins farther up the PCI-E connector on the card.
