Advice for High/unsafe temperatures for GTX 1070 ti (OC) and Ryzen 5 1600 (OC, stock cooler)?

Hello, I am wondering if these temps are too high/unsafe. My specs are:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 (OC to 3.7 Ghz, stock voltage)
GPU: ZOTAC Geforce GTX 1070 ti (OC to +120 MHz core clock, +250 MHz memory clock via afterburner)
RAM: 8 Gb Ballistix Single LT 2666 MHz
MOBO: MSI B350 Tomahawk
Cooler: Stock AMD Wraith spire that came with cpu
PSU: EVGA 550 W Bronze
SSD: ADATA SU700
HDD: WD Blue 1 TB
Case: Cooler Master Master box Lite 5 RGB
Thermal paste: Arctic Silver 5

I monitored my temps ingame with Afterburner + Rivatuner OSD as well as with HWinfo64 in the bacakground; at idle my cpu will set at around 40-50C while my GPU sitts at 34C and I think those are fine? But my problem is when gaming at full load on say Overwatch tempps climb fairly quickly and the highest temps i reach on CPU are about 78C and highest temp I've seen on GPU was 78C as well. Are these temps normal/safe or should I be worried?

I've been contemplating on buying an aftermarket cooler like the Hyper 212 Evo or the Cryorig H7 but I am unsure if it would make a big difference....not going for 120mm AIO since i heard it isnt worth it and 240mm radiator is kinda tight in this case i think.

Edit: Should probably mention my ambient temps hover around 20C. I also tried adjusting the fan curve on afterburner.

Please would appreciate help

Temps in the upper 70's aren't dangerous, but not somewhere I would want them to stay. If they are just peak temps with average temps around 70C then you are fine.

If you want to upgrade your CPU cooler I'd suggest a Cryorig H5, or if you want to spend more Noctua NH-D15S.

78C max temp is not terrible. I didn't upgrade my CPU cooler (from Cryorig H7) until I saw temps reach 85C playing AC Origins with my i7-7700K. But max working temp for Ryzen is about 5C lower than Intel I believe.

As for your GPU, more/better front case fans can help.

Thanks for your reply

By average temps do you mean the average temp of all cpu cores or the average temp between my minimum and maximum temp readings?

And that Cryorig H5 is better than the H7 in terms of cooling? And is it compatible with my pc build atm?

On a side note, I just finished playing Overwatch for about 1.5 hours and I peaked at 82C on the cpu....although this time I was using discord on in the background

Average temp of the hottest core.

The H5 is better than the H7. It's 160mm tall and your case has a maximum CPU cooler height of 160mm. So, I would hope it would fit.

Another option is the Schythe Fuma. It's a short dual-tower cooler with dual 120mm fans.

With either cooler you'll have to make sure it comes with an AMD AM4 mounting bracket.

Another nice option is the Noctua NH-U12S.

Thanks so much for your follow up!

I think I am set on getting an aftermarket cooler, likely to be one of your recommendations.

Just one last thing however, is it just personal preference that you suggested those over the Hyper 212 Evo or Cryorig H7 I initially considered? The coolers you listed are much more expensive so I would hope this is based on much better (even significant) temp performance? I don't really care for cosmetic

Well, the Cryorig H7 is slightly better than the Hyper 212. So I'd suggest the H7 if it's between those two.

You said you weren't sure if they were much of an ugprade over your stock cooler. I think they are an upgrade, but I'm on the same thought as you that it might not be that much of an ugprade.

But... I'm looking at some cooling benchmarks and the Hyper 212 shows to be a significant upgrade over the stock wraith spire cooler. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNjkDoYZYjU

As I said before though, the H7 is better than the Hyper 212. Also a little more expensive so it's up to you.
