So my MSI Z97 Gaming 5 decided to take a massive DUMP and one of the PCIe slots actually got ripped off the motherboard. Apparently I'm not the only one who's had this problem as there's a couple on eBay with the same slot that's been ripped off.
I removed the pins and the mobo still works like normal but I can't do SLI anymore. I have a budget of $200 to find a replacement as I want to do some testing and benchmarking with dual 960s.
Here's a list of motherboards I've compiled within my price range currently:
MSI Z87-G43
ASUS TUF SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 2
GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-D3H
ASUS Z87-C
ASRock Z97 Anniversary
ASRock Z97 Extreme6
I'm planning to go with the Sabertooth because I had the Z77 version and it kicked butt until the southbridge started to fail.
I've also had lots of positive experience with AsRock products, like my H61m-VS, H77M, Z77 OC Formula, and Z370 Pro4.
Gigabyte has been a mixed bag, but I'd rather not deal with MSI again.
Does anyone here have any input? My CPU is a 4790K.
