Stay on Current Platform or Upgrade?

So my current pc's specs are:

i3 2120
Corasir H50 AIO
MSI Z77A-GD65
16GB DDR3 Kingston RAM @ 1666 mhz
Asus RX 580 8GB
1TB WD Black Hard Drive
EVGA 500W PSU

So... yeah. My CPU is clearly a major bottleneck and when it maxes out can cause major stuttering in games - not a great experiance. I need an upgrade. My question is, should I stay on the platform and pick up an i7 2600k and OC it to 4.4 or 4.5 Ghz for only $100 off of eBay, or save for a while longer and get an i3 8100, 16 GB of DDR4 and a new Mobo for ~ $350, though this would mean I would have to deal with the stuttering longer. I would really like to spend less money if possible, but at the same point being on the new platform gives me access to M.2 support, faster RAM, and better upgradability for the future.

What should I do?

Thanks.
