I5 8400 6 cores 6 threads 2.8 ghz
GTX 1080
Or
I5 8600k (unlocked) 6 cores 6 threads 3.6ghz (will overclock)
GTX 1060 6gb

Hmm then you want a gpu higher than the 1060 to push enough FPS. High FPS also benefits from higher single core performance and that is where the 8600k wins. Best would be 8600k & 1070/1070Ti but if the budget won’t stretch that far either the 8400 or Ryzen 2600 with a strong gpu. Just note that Ryzen benefits more from faster RAM so aim for 3000mhz or more if you go Ryzen, Intel is ok with slightly slower 2666.

I agree with electro_90. Get ryzen 2600/x and 1080. However, if you dont want amd, i would pick gtx1080 and i5 8400. Even if you want to play at 1080p i would still go with better gpu.
