Hey im looking to make an upgrade to my pc but don't know if I should upgrade the CPU Or the GPU and If I do which gpu or cpu should I get. Here are my current specs lmk if you guys need more info.

System Specifications:
Processor: i7 6700 @ 3.4GHZ
CPU Cooler: Idk which cooler
Motherboard: Predator G3-710
RAM: 32GB 2133 MHZ
GPU: GeForce GTX 1070
Storage: 2 one with 240GB the other with 950GB
PSU: Acer Predator 500W (PS-7501-5)

Also im mainly looking to play video games. Mostly Pubg and Black ops 4 when it comes out. As of right now im looking to get the 1080ti but don't know if my cpu is good enough to completely neglect it and go straight for the gpu upgrade. So please let me know!

500w is enough if the quality is good but I don’t know how good your current psu is quality wise and it can deliver close to 500w on the 12v rail, some psu’s perform much lower than stated wattage. A 1070 with an overclock takes around 180w, so allow 200w. You cannot overclock your cpu so allowing another 200w for the rest of the system you have a total 400w peak. Now you always build in headroom so 500w (good quality) is the minimum but is ok.

Not having sufficient power does not limit what the gpu can do. The gpu has no idea what power the psu can deliver and cannot throttle itself, this is a myth. What happens is if the psu isn’t sufficient the voltages go out of tolerance and causes the pc to become unstable or reboot. There is...

I run 1920 x 1080, also when you say I need a 600w does that mean its dangerous not to have one? Also I was looking to upgrade to the 1080ti since black ops 4 is coming out and it was giving me some lag in beta. So my next question would be, is there an actually fps/performance difference with the upgrade from 1070 to 1080ti?

It isn't dangerous to NOT have a sufficient psu, but it does LIMIT what the card can do.

1080ti is a big waste of money at 1080p. Games are more cpu bound at that resolution, and by that, I mean you won't notice a huge gain over your current card. To get the most out of a 1080ti, you should really have a 1440p or 4k monitor.

Beta is just that, beta. The game isn't complete, and will likely require driver updates to run properly - this also assuming devs aren't lazy(coughPUBGcough). You're going about it backwards justifying an upgrade due to performance issues in an INCOMPLETE(again) game.

Get a higher resolution monitor before bothering with a 1080ti. Otherwise no, I wouldn't upgrade anything.

What happens is if the psu isn’t sufficient the voltages go out of tolerance and causes the pc to become unstable or reboot. There is also a big risk, a psu put under too much load is far more like to fail and when a psu fails it can damage other components. Higher quality psu’s have better protection built in but if they fail could still cause damage, it is just less likely to happen.
