How to check if CPU cooler is dead?

My PC started to shut down due to high CPU temperatures, and was immediately sent to Service. They told me they just cleaned it from dust and replaced termal paste However, i doubt in that and suspect that the CPU cooler is dead and that they did nothing about it, since this is the 2nd time it's happening in less then a year. However, i have warranty which forbids me from opening side panel, so i can't check it manually (it has some sticker or smth and they will see if i open it). Is there any software that can help me find out if the cooler is dead?

Download and Run RealTemp. Look at temps while idle. Then download and run either Prime95 or Intel Burn Test for a few minutes. Look at temps while stress testing. If it's rising too high (above 80c), then most likely the pump could theoretically be dying, and stop the test immediately. Theoretically, why?

Because certain settings in the BIOS may not be set correctly, so it may not be the pump at all. Check and make sure your pump and fans are running at full fan speed from the BIOS. If they just reset the BIOS values without reconfig. the BIOS settings, then that pump may be just not pumping fast enough, hence the overheating.

Is it OC? Are the voltages set correctly? Too much Voltage will cause temps to rise. Keep in mind...

Other things you can look for:

Listen closely to your pump if you can. If it's making a "Swosshing" noise when running at full speed and the temps are high, then most likely it's getting ready to kick the can.

Good luck!
