I installed a aorus gtx1080ti xtreme edition yesterday and I crash in nearly the same part of graphics test 2 every time. Managed to get through timespy twice and ran heaven for like half an hour with out issues, but like 10 crashes in firestrike so far. Temps are okay, GPU gets to ~72 and CPU ~60 max. I did a lot to try and fix it like clean wipe of drivers, etc and the card shipped with the latest BIOS already on it. I even tried formatting and using a fresh windows install since I luckily had very little on this PC so far.

I am about ready to say screw it and return it for the ASUS strix version. I actually made a thread worrying about instability issues a few days ago before I ordered this thing. One last grasp here basically, anyone have any ideas or is it just bad silicon luck?

This plus the fact that their latest aorus engine software completely breaks the fans (also had a thread on this yesterday...) is souring me quite a bit on Gigabyte.

other specs:
8700k
aorus gaming 5 motherboard
16GB ddr4 3200

This other hardware I have faith in as I have been through firestrike a number of times with previous card.

Thanks

Fresh windows install, I have no aorus software installed as of now.

And thanks for the tip about the cables, that did not even cross my mind as I've pretty much always done it this way. Will try it and report back.

NEVER a good idea with the higher end GPU's to run one cable.

Well I gave it a shot, two separate cables for the card and it behaves the exact same way. Crashes during graphics test 2. Frustrating

So I made a user profile and dropped the boost clock to 1700 and can get through Firestrike. Am I overreacting? Seems lame that I can't get through a benchmark with 2 of their advertised settings (gaming and OC modes), don't know if this is worth a return though. Opinions?

Never really delved into OC modes, including doing it myself. In the past I have just plugged the card in, installed drivers and went. Maybe this isn't uncommon..

Just don't know how to define working.. Can get through other benchmarks okay, and firestrike fine with what is still a somewhat substantial overlock I think. Tough decision.
