Do CPUs loose efficiency?

Hi all,

About 2 years ago I bought qn i5 7600k.
Back then it ran perfectly but as recently I have ran some CPU stress tests, the results have significantly decreased (about -30% compared to the first results).
Is this normal?
If not, what could cause this?

I haven't formatted my PC in a while but I am not sure why would this have an impact?

Thanks in advance for the answers,
Sincerely

CPUs don't get slower, they either work or they don't. I'd check to make sure you don't have a virus or a ton of programs running in the background. Also make sure that the stress test is at the exact same settings as last time, because this could just be nothing.

Won't do an harm, whether you'll notice much of a difference is another matter.
