Hello there. I ve decided to build a new gaming pc from scratch cuz the one I have is pretty old. I have a budget of 1500 euros for the hardware and I want a rig that will last me for the upcoming years. Primarily I ll play the newest AAA titles so the build must be strong.Any suggestions? P.s. I live in Italy

Thanks for your reply. Anyway are you sure about the combo Intel+the mobo? I mean is it really future proof? That i7 has slightly better performance than a ryzen 2700x and am4 mobo's are guaranteed till 2020 at least. Just asking if it's worth the more money for Intel

Yes, it is future proof, but you might have to wait a bit if you want to be more modern, since the 9th gen hasn't released in your country I think. When it comes out, you should get 9700k if you wait. You can get a Z390, but there is not much difference. It is worth the money, but if you desire to go cheaper, 2700x is no trash.

Just a couple of changes from techphantom's build as I think going for a Z390 motherboard would be a better bet than the Z370 especially if you ever upgrade to the 9700K or 9900K in the future as the Z390 boards have a better VRM setup, especially the ASRock boards. I also changed the cooler to a Cryorig H7 as it is just a bit better and will allow for just a little more headroom..

As techpantom has said the 8700K is a great CPU and on par with the 9700K and 9900K with just a very, very small difference that you will probably never notice. It's also a great overclocker and will provide a great gaming PC for many years to come.

More importantly, on the 1080 GTX, look for some second hand/used deals as they are going on Ebay for very good prices and much less than the retail price...you will save money!!

There is not such a big difference between Z390 and Z370, but you can never know what might be supported in Z390 but not Z370 in the future. In your build, you are just basically downgrading the graphics for a small difference. For this exact build, you don't need a Z370. 8700k is a vast card, and I don't think you will be upgrading anytime soon. Stick with the Z370 for now.

One thing, is that I don't trust used deals on eBay. I got scammed TWICE on it. One time it came with 12 bent cpu pins, the other time, I got a 1080ti - but it was a 750. I have to H7 is a tid better than the C7, though, but no big deal.

Hi techphantom, I get your point on the small changes. I'd still say the Z390 is the better bet if only for future upgrade path but the Z370 will do just as good a job..

On ebay, I have to disagree, I have used ebay for many years and even when I had a problem, ebay/Paypal sorted it out and paid me back. If you buy properly by making sure you are buying from a seller with a high seller rating (I buy from people with a 100% positive feedback and they should have sold at least 50 items plus) and if you use Paypal or Credit Card, you are protected. I suppose as anything when it comes to the used and second hand market, you have to be careful but he would save at least a 100 Euro's on a used GTX 1080 and it is worth considering if he wants to save money...It's just another option which is there..

Thanks guys for replying. Anyway, regarding ebay I was thinking about the same thing, to buy it(the gtx 1080 or maybe the ti) used from a good feedback user with possibly warranty. 2 questions. Aren't the 3200 mhz ram worth it on Intel? And about the monitor. I still don't get 1 thing. If I buy a 4k 60 hz monitor, this means that it only works at 60 hz? Like if I want to play in 2k instead of 4k,the refresh rate will still be 60? Because I see 2k 144 hz and 4k 60 hz and I m confused

Nico, you don't really need 3200mhz ram, since you can always oc the 3000. Also, 3200 is a bit "much".
Hertz is like how fast the monitor can update the screen. Different monitors have different hertz. 4k, 2k are resolution, they are a totally different thing.

Thanks for ram clarification. Anyway I still don't get it. Yeah of course I know 2k and 4k are resolutions, and the hertz is the refresh rate of the screen, but for example in those builds what monitor would be good? A 2k 144 hz or something like that?

On the memory, funnily I have done exactly what techphantom has suggested with my Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR4 3000 which I have now running at 3200...As to the monitor question, The choice for high refresh rate above 1080p is 1440p at 144Hz which you can get, at 4K it becomes insanely expensive to get a Monitor with a high refresh rate...I believe ASUS has released one or is about to but it is going to cost a bomb!!!

On the ebay side, if you can pick up a 1080ti at a good price, grab it as the 1080ti's are truly a step up from the 1080 and can play 4K very well and can more than handle 1440p 144Hz...

Yeah that's what I'm saying. I mean is it really a smart thing to buy a 4k monitor but then play at 2k and be stuck at 60hz or is better a 2k 144 hz monitor? Or maybe buy a 4k 60 hz for the future?

It just depends what type of gamer you are. If you game a lot and like fast paced games like first person shooter's, Racing sims etc. and like high refresh rates which I have to admit does make gaming both look and play ultra smooth, then go for a decent 1440p 144hz or 165Hz monitor. If on the other hand ultra high refresh rates are not that important and you play games like RTS etc or don't game a lot, then a 4K can be good and the only reason I went for a 4K TV was how much cheaper it was than a proper 4K Monitor and the size of the 4K TV can be much better depending on your setup at home. Also I am not what you might call a hardcore gamer....not with a wife and kids anymore so my gaming is sparadic and I also use the my setup for Youtube, Netflix etc so a 4K Tv better fits my needs...

Yeah your choice is understandable. Anyway I will play racing games like formula 1,NFS, fps like pubg and battlefield and mostly world of Warcraft. So you think the 2k high refresh monitor will be the best choose?

Yep 2K would be perfect for those games. I play Project Cars 2 and PUBG....whenever I can get a chance...

2k is the best, as 4k is I see common for 3d modelers. You don't need 4k. Using 2k on a 4k is useless, giving less hertz. 2k is really the mose suitable.
The best monitor suitable for your build is the Dell - S2716DG 27.0" 2560x1440 144Hz Monitor with G-Sync
