Hi,
Im actually OCing an i7 4790k on a Asrock H97m pro4 (BIOS 1.90, the one that allows overclock). Im at 4.6Ghz @1.210vcore and 1.900vccin. Problem appears when I want to reach 4.7Ghz, is it normal it requires such a big voltage increase? I tested it at 4.7Ghz @1.23 and crashed..
PSU: evga supernova g3 750w

Solution
You can be perfectly happy with 4.6 Ghz at only 1.21V. Intel specs are 1.35V max for prolonged periods, so you still have spare room to experiment. The only thing you have to ask yourself is whether it is worth it to push 100 mhz more for a big voltage increase and increased heat and power consumption. I'd just stay at 4.6 and be happy with that voltage.

Are those 60 points worth anything to you? ;) If so, feel free to experiment. Personally, I'd rather have "optimum overclock" (going as high as I can before reaching the point when CPU starts to require exponential increase of voltage for very small increases in frequency). CPU will run cooler overall, and the performance difference is negligible anyway.
