MSI X99S sli plus RAM question

I have 2x8gb ram sticks, does it matter which slots I use on my Mainboard or can I just put them right next to each other?

Well looking at your manual on page 1-17 it stats for 2 ram sticks to put them in slots 1 and 5. So with the CPU socket in the middle of all 8 slots you want to use the sot all the way to the left and all the way to the right
