I can't find this anywhere in Intel's sites... Can anyone tell me how many PCIe lanes some of the x5600 cpus have, especially the x5687, x5680 and x5690? I'm going crazy trying to find this info reading info sheet after sheet and can't find it anywhere damnit!!! LOL

Solution
This depends on whether you are talking about lanes from the CPU or the chipset. Much depends on what board and chipset.

That has more to do with the chipset although LGA1366 is pretty generous in that regard. X58 single CPU has 36 PCIe 2.0 lanes. Usually 2 full speed 16x, and one 4x slot.
On page 32 here. The 2 CPU Xeon chipset has either 36, or 24 PCIe depending on the IOH version. 5500, or 5520

They seem to be preconfigured 4x8 and 1x4 even if 16x slots are on the MB.

As @williamP said, the CPUs don't have direct PCIe lanes like newer CPUs. It will depend on the motherboard chipset. Since those CPUs work in dual socket motherboards, you can have double the PCIe lanes. You really need to look at the motherboard rather than the CPU.

Thank you all for answering my question so quickly and thoroughly! I didn't realize that the lane count was on the board back then rather than in the chip so I truly appreciate the info! it was right on point and solved my issues greatly!!! :)
