I want to make a gaming system and im between these 3.I see that i5 has better fps but does it really worth the extra money? Also ive seen ryzen 5 2600 is almost same as ryzen 7 1700 in terms of gaming. What should i do?

I said the 2600 is better due to more cores. In single core apps though the 8350K is better but for gaming the 2600 is better.
Worth is something only YOU can determine.

As a guideline, budget about 2x the cost of your cpu for the graphics card.

For most games, the single thread clock rate is all important.
The number of threads is secondary, assuming you have at least 4.

I5-8400 with 6 threads will have a nice turbo.
A motherboard that supports a i5-8400 has an upgrade path to a much stronger processor.

ryzen 7 with 12 threads and ryzen 7 with 16 threads looks to me to be equal.
These can be overclocked nicely.

Any of your choices will be good for a mid range gamer.

This is another tough one as both AMD and Intel are fairly good in this case. Intel on the 8400 and purely for gaming will just win out though the Ryzen 2600 will be very close. The 1700 though good and extremly cost effective will fall back a little.

For the money and overall performance, the Ryzen 2600 is hard to beat for the money. If you are after max FPS, the upgrade path on the Z390 with the 8400 can get you a future 9th gen CPU in the 9600K, 9700K and 9900K which are formidable gaming CPU's....but then again Ryzen 3rd Gen is also not too far away...
