WD My Book and pc games?

Access speeds aren't as quick, but it's quick *enough*.
Any I/O intensive games (open world games, etc), I would want on an internal drive.

Some USB3 controllers are better than others; it really depends on the computer/drive. Generally, eSATA or SATAIII drives are quicker, though.
My NAS drive uses a 4 TB WD Red, which is often what they put in their MyBook enclosures, and it is quite a slow drive.

To which internal HDD are you comparing to?
Reviews said it's about 170mb/s write speed for the My Book 4tb while the internal WD Blue is just about 120mb/s, but when they open the My Book it was a WD Blue that was inside!!
Now I am lost
