I upgraded my Motherboard, CPU, and RAM yesterday and have had constant issues since doing so. The build should have 0 issues running high end AAA games, however I'm having issues running my desktop, web browsers, or even League of Legends without stuttering, FPS drops, and other problems.
It lags while typing in the address bar on chrome, it lags on alt tabs, and it lags in game. It doesn't do it 24/7, but I have no idea what is causing it.
My PC is a Ryzen 7 2700X, Liquid cooled by a Kraken x62, with 16 GB of 3000 speed RAM, a GTX 980ti GPU, and windows on an SSD. This build should have 0 problems running anything at 2560x1440, but I can't even maintain 120hz @ 1920x1080.
The CPU never gets above 50 degrees when the stutters happen, and the GPU never gets above 80 degrees (in fact, it was happening at 60 degrees). The CPU usage never goes above 40%, the memory usage never goes above 50%.
I just know that randomly, I'll either be in game, or on my desktop, and everything I do lags slightly. Typing will skip some frames, and catch up to me. Alt tabbing takes slightly longer.
The strangest thing is, the FPS drops are actually very regular. In Elite Dangerous, I drop from 120hz (the max cap I set), to 80hz. It does this over and over again, on a seemingly regular interval of about 1 second. It seems consistent with what happens in other games too. Its a regularly timed FPS drop, then spikes right back up to where I max it out at.
I'm so confused and have no idea what to do and need help from anyone who can give it
