Gaming on a laptop with external GPU and monitor.

I have an MSI GE63 7RD Raider gaming laptop. I want to know if I can game on an external GPU using e.g Razer core and 1070 but also using an external monitor to game on.

Specs for laptop.
1 x USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C
Intel i7 7700hq
Nvidia 1050ti 4GB

Actually I didn't put much research into it, but it looks like type C is compatible with thunderbolt. So technically it should work.

You'll be limited by transfer speed though. Even though the thunderbolt 3 cable fits in the usb-c connector. the USB-C has a transfer rate of 10gbps while the thunderbolt connector runs at 40gbps, depending on cable length. So the external gpu should work but performance may or may not be affected by the port type, with that sadly i have no experience with.
