Save $1,400 on this RTX 5090 gaming PC from HP with 64GB DDR5 right now; RAM and GPU cost $5k alone — $5,599 sale price for top-spec Omen Max 45L rig with 24-core Intel CPU and 2TB of SSD storage
Compare and contrast to the current price for just the RTX 5090 right now. To buy a standalone Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card, without the rest of this build, would cost you at least $4,499.99 right now for a card from a reputable seller. The extra $1,100 you're spending here gets you 64GB of RAM, 2TB of storage, an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU, and more. The current market price for this amount of RAM and storage means you'd almost certainly end up paying more to build an equivalent rig yourself.
As our HP Omen Max 45L review shows, this is a build made for serious gamers. It's one of HP's flagship gaming machines, built quietly but with a formidable presence at your desk, thanks to its massive case, with three 120mm fans visible at the front. Our review model differs slightly in specs, but the design is exactly the same here.
A big 20% saving is available right now on this HP Omen Max 45L gaming PC, fitted with an RTX 5090, Core Ultra 9 285K, 64GB of RAM, and 2TB of SSD storage.
It's the GPU that makes this build unstoppable for gamers. Our GPU benchmarks make clear what you already know about the RTX 5090: this is the best consumer graphics card you can buy, with performance that no other consumer GPU can match. It has double the second-place RTX 5080's CUDA count of 10,752, while other specs include a massive 32GB of GDDR7 VRAM, using a 512-bit memory bus with bandwidth speeds of up to 1,792 GB/s.
As for the CPU, you're getting the Intel Core 9 Ultra 285K. This is a 24-core CPU, eight of which are performance cores, which are the best for high-performance gaming. A further 16 efficient cores are great for multi-threaded tasks. The 285K is fully unlocked and overclockable, and the performance cores offer a standard clock speed of 3.7 GHz, which can boost up to 5.7 GHz.
The 285K, like other Intel Arrow Lake CPUs, admittedly didn't excite for gaming when they launched, trailing behind AMD's top-spec alternatives like the 9980X3D. Luckily, the raw power of the RTX 5090 is a formidable counterweight against any deficiencies in the 285K, offsetting and heavily compensating for any of its shortcomings. Meanwhile, updates since launch have helped to improve the 285K's gaming performance, too.
Either way, coupled with the RTX 5090, you can still expect to hit high frame rates, 4K, and ray tracing on Ultra graphics presets. Nvidia DLSS 4 is also there to fall back on in a pinch, should you ever need to, with multi-frame generation able to use AI to boost frame rates in the most intensive games.
Other features in this pre-built HP gaming rig include Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 support. You're also getting a 2TB NVMe SSD with Gen 4 speeds included, which should leave a healthy amount of space for a big game collection. There's also a significant boost to memory with this rig, with Kingston Fury 62GB DDR5-5600 memory included as standard, split across four 16GB modules.
The $5,599.99 sale price for this HP Omen Max 45L machine is a good price in the current market for a high-end gaming PC, excluding those with a time machine that can head back to last year's prices. RAM, SSD, and GPU prices are all extremely high at the moment, so there's no guarantee that we won't see further price rises towards the end of the year. If you need an upgrade, the $1,400 saving offered by this HP machine might just be worth it.
